John Lee Hooker byl americký bluesový zpěvák, kytarista a skladatel. Narodil se v roce 1912 v americkém státě Mississippi a již od mladého věku se věnoval hudbě. Jeho styl byl charakterizován hlubokým vokálem a jednoduchým hraním na kytaru. Hookerova kariéra začala v 40. letech, když podepsal smlouvu s nahrávací společností Modern Records. Od té doby vydal mnoho hitů, mezi které patří například "Boogie Chillen'" a "Boom Boom". Jeho hudba byla významnou součástí bluesového revivalu v 60. letech. Během svého dlouhého a úspěšného působení v hudebním průmyslu získal Hooker mnoho ocenění, včetně Grammy. Byl také přijat do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a Blues Hall of Fame. Vydal řadu alb, k Hookerovým nejznámějším písním patří např. +more „Boogie Chillen'“ či „Boom Boom“. Byl bratranec bluesového zpěváka a kytaristy Earla Hookera. Jeho písně zazněly v počítačové hře Mafia II nebo filmu Vlk z Wall Street.
