Mistrovství světa ve fotbale 1998 bylo šestnácté mistrovství světa v dějinách fotbalu. Finálový turnaj se odehrál mezi 10. červnem a 12. červencem roku 1998 ve Francii. Turnaj byl oproti předchozímu ročníku rozšířen na 32 týmů, rozlosovaných do 8 skupin po 4 týmech. Nejlepší hráči mistrovství světa: 1. Ronaldo (Brazílie), 2. Davor Šuker (Chorvatsko), 3. Lilian Thuram (Francie).
